When I started grad school, I was a divorced mom living off student loans and the money I made as a demo singer. I had a crappy little Acer notebook that I had scored from Walmart for $200. This notebook was EVERYTHING.
From it, I was able to design and run my website and take online courses – so that school would not take too much time away from my responsibilities at home. I even used a rudimentary audio recording program to crank out early versions of songs I would later record for an EP.
Before it died for the 2nd time (the first time it died 1 week short of the warranty expiring and it was replaced for free!) – it was doing the most! When I was later gifted a MacBook, I never took it for granted.
It may sound cliché, but these days the saying is true – all you need is a laptop, Internet and a dream.
Now, I am fortunate to be able to help other moms in need. Moms like me. Are you a survivor of domestic violence or rape? Are you diligently working towards a writing career, or are you a writing major in college? Do you need a laptop to help you make your dreams come true? This writing competition might be for you!
